SHALEV MADMONI
August 27, 1999 - October 7, 2023 | Age: 24
“Shalev’s passion was to conquer every destination, to travel the world, and one day open a small café filled with delicious food her mother would cook.”
About Shalev
Shalev was a deeply compassionate and selfless person, always putting others before herself and showing empathy, respect, and kindness from a very young age.
At the age of five, she experienced a near-death drowning incident and was miraculously revived, an event her family saw as a sign of her resilience and purpose.
She lived with strong values of gratitude, faith, and humility, often expressing appreciation for her life and never taking things for granted.
Shalev was a natural leader, optimistic, responsible, and
loved by all.
Her friends described her as an “angel”
who brought light and positivity wherever she went.
She served in the army as a SAP software instructor and became a commander, where her leadership and abilities were quickly recognised.
She loved life deeply, travelling, dreaming big, and creating meaningful connections. After her service, she pursued her dream of travelling South America, showing determination by going back even after a difficult first trip.
Her relationship with Guy, her partner of four and a half years, was described as a rare and powerful soulmate connection.
Shalev & Guy
Love beyond life
Guy and Shalev were a young couple, full of light, laughter, and a deep, genuine love. Their relationship was built on respect, connection, and a shared joy for life.
On October 7th, they were murdered together.
In the months that followed, Shalev’s mother made an extraordinary decision. She brought a Sefer Torah in their name, creating something eternal in place of the life they did not get to build together.
And then, from a place of love that did not end, she held a wedding for them under a chuppah, at the Knesset, fulfilling a dream that could not happen in this world.
Their story is a reflection of a love that continues beyond life.
“Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it.”
Even in loss, there is a quiet comfort, knowing they are still together.
Moments & memories
Fragments of a beautiful life, lovingly remembered.
The Morning Everything Changed
At around 7:10 a.m., while trying to escape the terror unfolding around them, Shalev and Guy were ambushed by Hamas terrorists on the road.
Just minutes earlier, Guy had managed to call the police to report the gunfire they were hearing before the call was suddenly disconnected.
As they drove, they unknowingly arrived at a scene already overtaken by terror. Armed terrorists surrounded a Bedouin family whose father was desperately pleading for their lives.
When Shalev and Guy’s car approached, the terrorists immediately opened fire.
They never had a chance.
What happened afterward revealed a level of cruelty almost impossible to comprehend. According to later findings, Shalev’s body was taken from the scene after the attack, while their car was set on fire. Days later, after extensive searches by police bomb squads scanning the area for explosives, Shalev was found nearly a kilometer away in an abandoned field beside a burned terrorist motorcycle. Her body had also been burned.
For days, her family lived between hope, uncertainty, and unbearable fear before she was finally identified.
Some pain is too enormous for words. And perhaps what shattered those who loved her most was not only the loss itself, but the knowledge that even after death, hatred continued to desecrate what should have been left untouched.
The brutality of that day was so profound that those who loved Shalev are still trying to understand how human beings could be capable of such darkness.
“What I was most proud of was her completeness, her self-confidence in achieving her goals without ever harming others or stepping on them for her own benefit.” Her mother
Her Life & Dreams
Shalev dreamed of seeing the world, travelling freely, discovering new places, and one day opening a small café together with her mother.
She lived with a deep sense of gratitude and faith, often expressing thanks for what she had and asking for nothing more.
Her connection to her family was at the centre of her life. She showed constant love and respect for her parents and grandparents, and cherished the simple moments they shared, especially family holidays and time spent together.
Shalev was determined and resilient. Even when things didn’t go as planned, she chose to try again, returning to South America to continue the journey she believed in.
Above all, she brought light with her wherever she went, leaving people feeling seen, supported, and uplifted.
Shalev’s light endures through everyone she touched.
