The Day Everything Changed
When the rockets were launched, Kim called her mother at 6:30 AM during the first siren. Kim, Raz, and Neta were among the first to leave, driving towards home.
When another siren went off, they stopped at a Magenit on the corner of Kibbutz Be’eri.
Kim sent her mother her location twice, but due to the ongoing sirens, contact became difficult. She told her there was shooting nearby.
A resident from the Gaza border communities arrived with a vehicle and offered Kim and Neta a ride to escape. Kim refused to leave Raz behind. Neta got into the vehicle and escaped. Kim chose to return to the shelter to stay with Raz.
Around 8:30 AM, contact was lost.
There were around 40 people inside the shelter. A terrorist entered and opened fire, killing most of those inside. Only nine people survived.
